Hi all

I'm sorry to say the ra monster is climbing out of it's box having been zapped only a month ago by the jolt of steroids.
I'm on a hefty regime of pain killers now
Paracetamol every 4 hrs (max 8 a day) I then have 8 gabapentin and 50 mg of zomorph in the morning, another 50mg at night.

That's on top of the other meds of steroid etc

I do have oramorph but try and avoid taking it
I'm in a lot of pain all the time

Then there is breakthrough pain on top. In the night when I wake I feel I'm in a vice, and desperately take . I try not to cry

Oh dear im waffling now!
Can I ask if these meds can make you feel fatigued? I'm physically exhausted. I don't really want to sleep but could dose all day if I could.
At night I wake a few times as cant turn myself over and so wake and physically manipulate my legs over and turn the rest of me.

I'm not sure what to say now so will shut up.
The gp has actually referred me to the pain clinic st the hosp not least because I think I may gave more knee chopping about this year and we have to plan for better pain control than after the last lot of surgery.

Does anyone else struggle to balance stuff?

Oh Jenni

I am so sorry that you are suffering so badly, it's now wonder you are utterly exhausted. Will continue to pray for relief and hope that the pain clinic will be of some help.
Hope the Christmas season lifts your spirit a little...........I love the idea of a chrismas story box.

Best wishes for you and your family to have a very special Christmas

Sue

Hi Jenni

This disease just shows no compassion whatsoever!!

I really feel for you, the horrendous ongoing pain you are suffering. There just doesn't seem to be any relief for you. Persistant pain is just so physically draining, I think the meds do cause fatigue but it's more to do with just not been able to get any pain relief, it's exhausting!!!

I take so many painkillers but they just touch the surface of it, at night when the pain is unbearable I just want to leave my body for a while. No one understands this unless they have been there.

I don't know what to say other than you show immense courage and inspiration to everyone on this site.

Thinking of you with love
Rebecca x

Hi Jenni

I m so sorry that you are suffering so much, when the RA is not controlled and playing up like this you are bound to feel terribly tired. I see it like the good bits of our system are working on overdrive to try and get rid of the horrible ones ( sorry not very technical ! ) I think the nights are just the worst, unless you have been there you have no idea how awful it can be.

I know you keep strong and positive and inspire us, on here, all the time. Hopefully soon after Christmas you will be on the new medication, and as ever will be crossing everything that I have that is crossable LOL

Love Julia xx

Thank you for your responses

Now I know why this has been like this. I started my period this morning and have woken with a full blown ra flair

I was meant to go for my knee review appt today but the car wouldnt start! It's been a he'll of a day!

Had oramorph and the gp is trying to get hold of my consultant for what to do, she is very proactive.

Feeling pretty emotional. Missed bernice's party today at pre school but mum wentso should get some pictures!

Thanks again
Jenni xx

Jenni

I am so sorry that you are in so much pain again. Yes both the medications and actual physical pain can be so draining. I have heard wonderful things about pain management clinics. People I know who have been at the end of their tether with pain have had remarkable results. Some still with the same medication but a different regime of taking it and some with different medication. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

You really need to get all of this under control before considering any more surgery. The anaesthetic for an operation alone takes about 12 months to get out of your system and can also make you feel quite unwell for some time.

Keep going my lovely.

Jackie

Hi Jenni
I don't really know what to say -yes i do have pain and fatigue but it's nothing compared to what you have to put with.I have morphine patches and they really space me out so i only have them when i'm desperate.
I hope you can get in to the pain clinic quickly i've heard brilliant things about them,so fingers crossed for you.
I really hope you get some relief over Xmas - it really is magic when you have little ones.
You are in my thoughts

Hi Jenni- hope you have a better day tomorrow. Pain is so exhausting and the drugs add to the weariness. Hope your referral to the pain clinic is progessing and they can come up with a schedule that really improves things for you. I know how hard it is to sit at home and miss the things you want to do. Just wanted to say thinking of you and send hugs xx Ailsa
